Network Rail Work Experience

Network Rail has teamed up with Barclays Life Skills and we're hoping to set up work experience opportunities for 14-16 year olds at our offices in central Manchester (near to Piccadilly Station).

Our initial proposal would provide 1 week of experience for 1-2 pupils, covering the following work areas within our business:

SkillsCo (Skills Solutions) Open Event for students interested in apprenticeships:

Hair Event taking place at the Hair Academy:

The hair event will be taking place at: The Hair Academy, 17-19 Whitworth St West, Manchester, M1 5WG

Any students interested in Construction/Engineering and Automotive an open evening at the Skills Centre at Trafford Park. 

The Skill centre Open Event will be taking place: Greater Manchester Skill Centre, Unit B, Ashbourton Point, Wheelforge Way, Trafford Park, M17 1EH 

To make things easier for students travelling to The Skill centre the mini bus will be picking up from the SkillsCo office in town every half an hour and taking them to and from the centre.

Year 11's we would like to bring to your attention an exciting career opportunity:

Ofsted are currently advertising for apprentices to join them in their Manchester office. Ofsted apprentices will be offered a permanent role and will be supported in completing a two year level 2 & 3 Apprenticeship Diploma in Business Administration.

Apprenticeships - Learn as you Earn!

The BBC is launching a new pilot local apprenticeship across BBC English Regions from Newcastle to Jersey, Plymouth to Norwich that offer a career pathway into Broadcast & Communication Operations.

We also have a new 4 year degree based Software Developer apprenticeship based up in Salford, North West England:

Promoting STEM in Broadcasting! -Have you ever wanted to demonstrate the role of technology and engineering in STEM related industries such as broadcasting? The BBC has created an informative poster that shows the range of technologies that are fundamental to how we connect to our audiences and what skills the UK needs from our future talent.

We're looking to build awareness of the importance of Maths and STEM subjects that are vital for the future UK creative industry. To be a successful and future-proofed individual wishing to work across broadcast technology we heavily rely upon the education sector to deliver the next generation of innovators/inventors and engineers!


Careers workshops for Year 10 students will be held in school for 16-17...

Four workshops will be held throughout the school year 16-17. The Manchester college will be running sessions on post 16 options and the skills company will be running one on apprenticeships. The sessions will be 45 mins each and start At 9.00 am- 1.45pm. More details to follow.
