Our Ethos & Priorities

A welcome from the Headteacher, Mrs C McCarron

There are lots of different reasons for visiting a school website and I trust this one will provide you with the information you are looking for. As a leading Catholic High School, The Barlow endeavours to work closely with parents and carers to create a well-ordered, respectful, caring environment where Christ is at the heart of our community.

Our Priorities are:

  • Learning and teaching
  • Leadership
  • Achievement
  • Behaviour, attendance and safety

Since my appointment, I have been determined to raise standards and aspirations. I have high expectations of all our pupils in terms of achievement, uniform and behaviour and am delighted with the school's development to date. Our dedicated staff are totally committed to working to ensure that every child is happy, safe and secure, enjoys their education and achieves their full potential.

Our Mission Statement

At The Barlow, we provide excellent levels of care, guidance and support. We give our pupils opportunities to discover and develop their God given talents through an extensive and exciting programme of extra-curricular activities, visits and sporting events, and foster a positive attitude to learning. Each child is challenged to achieve, and where possible to surpass their academic targets.

It is important for our pupils to learn about their faith and they all study Religious Education to GCSE level. In addition to learning about their faith in an academic, spiritual and moral way, our pupils are encouraged to put their faith into action in a practical way. Last year, our pupils raised a staggering £6,000 for our chosen charities.

I do hope that you find this website both informative and inspirational and that it will encourage you to find out more about the school of which I am so proud of.
