The Barlow supports a variety of charities:
Joseph's Penny - In the season of Lent our pupils come together
as a community to raise money for our local charity, St. Joseph's
Penny. The pupils donate their own money and organise activities to
help raise funds for this fantastic organisation. Well done to all
our pupils and staff for their hard work and generosity. Further
details on this year's presentation can be found at
Francis House - Based in Didsbury,
Francis House is a children's hospice that offers respite for
families and care for children with a short life
expectancy. In February 2014, our students presented Francis
House with a cheque for £500.
Cornerstone Day Centre - We raise
money for Cornerstone Day Centre to help homeless people in
Manchester and were happy to present them with a cheque for £1000
at the end of the Autumn Term 2013.
In partnership with Lynda Waine, one of our School Governors, we
raise money throughout the year to send to Cochabamba in
Bolivia to buy much needed school supplies and equipment for
orphaned and abandoned children.
SVP (Saint Vincent de Paul Society) - Every
Christmas, we donate food parcels to the SVP groups connected to
our neighbouring parishes. The food goes directly to those who need
it in our local community.
RNIB - Our school office staff help support The Royal National
Institute of the Blind People. They ensure they collect and send
off stamps from all the post received by the school. The money
raised by collecting stamps helps support the charity in offering
information, support and advice to anyone with a sight problem.
