The Barlow is located close to Didsbury Village and is a short walk to the nearest Metrolink station.  Didsbury is located approximately five miles south of Manchester City Centre.  The location enjoys the advantages of close proximity to the countryside of Cheshire and the Peak District, strong transport links and the cultural and sporting activities of a major city.

At The Barlow RC High School, we are committed to promoting and protecting positive mental health and emotional wellbeing for all our students, their families, our staff members and governors. It is our shared vision to ensure mental health related problems are identified early, through: the mindful observation of all our young people and each other, excellent, professional relationships, an open mental health culture and our extensive, embedded support system, which is open to all members of the school community.


Our commitment to promoting positive mental health and wellbeing across our school community can be recognised through our achievement of the Wellbeing Award for Schools.  We were also the proud winners of the Wellbeing Award in The Manchester Evening News school awards 2022 in partnership with One Education.


We have a group of Wellbeing Champions who meet termly to prioritise staff wellbeing and look for ways to improve our offering and staff feedback is at the heart of this.


We also have an independent Employee Assistance Programme and Occupational Health provider in place to support staff with any wellbeing needs.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Co-ordinator (Internal Vacancy)


Starting:       September 2024

Contract:     Fixed Term (3rd June 2024 – 31st August 2025)

Salary:          TLR 3 £2,500


We are seeking to appoint an energetic, enthusiastic and ambitious Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Coordinator who would relish the challenge to support the leadership and management of diversity, equity and inclusion across school. As a DEI Coordinator, you will act as a DEI role model across school and help create a DEI culture across school.

Numeracy Development Lead (Internal Vacancy) 


Starting:     3rd June 2024

Contract:    Fixed Term, until the return of the substantive post holder

Maternity Cover 0.6 FTE 

Salary:         TLR 2b, £5,348 – Actual 0.6 FTE £3,208


You will be required to teach across all ability sets and year groups up to and including GCSE level and will make a key contribution to driving up standards and attainment within the department. You will work alongside the Curriculum Lead to ensure timely intervention and good progress, particularly for pupil premium leading to excellent pupil achievement and be responsible for promoting numeracy on a whole school basis. In particular, you will provide support and guidance to teaching staff in all subject areas to ensure a consistent approach to numeracy across the school.
